First of all - what do we mean by "Ground Control?"
Well his name is Peter Adler, he lives in Darien, CT, and he is a good friend.
Peter has agreed to receive our occasional e-mails with our progress reports and predictions as to our next location. He will post this information on the blog, and generally keep track of things.
Even before we start off - we owe Peter a sincere bow of respect - and a "Thank You" for getting us started on track.
And now - our contact information. You may reach us:
1) directly - on our cell phones - Frank @ 203 550 1129 Roger @ 203 613 4847
2) e-mail this account - catboatsforever@gmail.com we will check it nightly
3) phone or e-mail to "Ground Control" - Peter Adler 203 356 9332 or padler AT pipeline DOT com
(you recall the convention: AT = "@" Dot = "." This helps to keep spammers at bay .... maybe!)
We will try to monitor Marine Radio VHF channels 9, 13, 16 and 72 - but, quite frankly, its noisy and not much of a vacation to keep that chatter on, all day long. We need 13 to talk with the occasional draw-bridge (bascule bridge) attendants - and 16 is for the Coast Guard - you all know the routine. So we'll have to see.
We both have VHF radios with a DSC function on them for emergencies (the RED BUTTON) with the appropriate MMSI coding embedded. However, despite the great DSC technology - it would be best just to leave a message on the cell number. Your call will be answered, in the due course of events .... after all, we are on vacation!
For the record, though - here are our MMSI and registration numbers:
