After a 2:00 a.m. prepositioning leg (to catch the high tide over Holly Pond dam) and a night aboard tied up at the Noroton Yacht Club dock, Lovinde left the dock at precisely 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 1, into a flat, hazy Long Island sound. Lovinde and Owl will rendezvous at Red "30" off Smith Reef and proceed to City Island.
The plan is to overnight at Morris YC on City Island. Wednesday morning, the
ballast passengers crew (Peter & Pat) will come on board for the trip down the East River, under the Verrazano, and on towards Far Rockaway.
